The roughness of a floor surface is expressed using the friction coefficient (µ). In practice, the friction of a floor can only be measured using testing equipment.
In collaboration with KIWA and TÜV, Compañero carried out friction tests on prefab concrete with GIAN concrete patterns. These tests showed that all prefab concrete with GIAN concrete patterns easily comply with the demands recorded in NTA 7909 of the NEN. This means that the concrete patterns created by the GIAN pattern mats give the concrete excellent anti-slip qualities.

GIAN 1 large diamond pattern, with a wide drainage channel. A concrete pattern created using the GIAN 1 large diamond pattern (35 x 14mm) was tested using the Floor Slide Control 2000 Print (FSC 2000 Print).
The FSC 2000 print measures the frictional resistance of a floor surface as well as three standard
sliders. The test is carried out in both wet and dry conditions using the three standard sliders
of rubber, plastic and leather respectively (to imitate shoe soles).

A concrete pattern created using the GIAN 2S square pattern was tested wet using the Floor Slide Control 2000 Print (FSC 2000 Print).
The FSC 2000 print measures the frictional resistance of the concrete pattern made using the GIAN 7 round pattern with sandblast.
The concrete patterns created by GIAN pattern mats were tested with the FSC 2000 print made by TÜV Rheinland.
